church strategy

A healthy church strategy is a dynamic strategy, which provides the church with a clear and effective plan for success.

This post is part of a series looking at the five essential components of organisationally healthy churches. The posts are:

  1. Apostolic Mission
  2. Prophetic Vision
  3. Intentional Culture
  4. Organic Structure
  5. Dynamic Strategy

What is Dynamic Strategy?

It is the plan. Priorities, goals, objectives, timelines, targets and actions. Our church strategy must answer the key question ‘what is your church doing next?’

The mission is our overarching purpose, and the vision is the mission incarnated, whilst our culture and our structure together generate the environment that hosts growth and movement. But the church strategy must bring it all together into defined, measurable steps.

Planning is important, but plans for plan’s sake are not. Plans without a sense of prioritization lead to chaos and lack of planning will result in us reacting to the urgent instead of pursuing the important. Strategy helps us determine our short, medium and long-term goals, targets and objectives. It is the plotting of the course towards the destination we want to arrive at.

Why is Dynamic Strategy important?

It generates momentum and growth through consistently defining and attaining clear goals.

What does healthy Dynamic Strategy bring to a church?

  1. It keeps the mission front and centre in church life.
  2. A dynamic strategy turns the vision into practical, grounded steps.
  3. It shapes the process of church culture becoming personal lifestyle.
  4. When healthy, it streamlines and simplifies visional, cultural and structural development.

What happens if Dynamic Strategy is lacking?

There will be a lack of clear steps forward, with no consistent movement, and no momentum to bring about change.

What helps develop Dynamic Strategy?

Key Questions
