A healthy church has a strong church administration structure to ensure it efficiently manages the resources God has given it.
This post is part of a series looking at the five essential components of churches with healthy leadership culture. The posts are:
- Discipleship Pathway
- Community Clarity
- Member Engagement
- Administrative Excellence
- Leadership Effectiveness
What is Administrative Excellence?
Administrative excellence really means there is a framework of a robust church administration structure. This should result in efficient and effective processes and stewardship of resources. Administrative Excellence measures of the efficiency of how well the church manages its resources, whether time, energy, people or money.
Why is Administrative Excellence important?
Without an excellent church administration structure, we may not make the most of resources. God has given us all we need for success in this current season, so using it well is key.
What does healthy Administrative Excellence bring to a church?
- Ordered and effectively managed serving opportunities
- Clear, frequent and effective communications
- Key notices and information readily available to people through different methods
- Leaders have easy access to available resources as needed
What happens if Administrative Excellence is lacking?
Lack of a good church administration structure will result in resources wasted or things are done in such a way that the work of ministry is hindered instead of helped. Bureaucracy, delay or disorganisation are norms.
What helps develop Administrative Excellence?
- Clear procedures and processes with regards to church communications
- A well-designed and regularly updated website.
- Use of church management software, social media and email list providers.
- Clear and robust budget processes that connect and line up with visional and strategic priorities.
- Administratively gifted people are seen as leaders and empowered to bring organisation where needed, whilst supported by other leaders.
